Iceberg Salat Center has a certificate for organic production that is based on the use of crop rotation, leafy vegetable fertilization, compost and biological control of insects. Organic production involves the use of fertilizers and pesticides (herbicides, fungicides and insecticides) that are considered natural and excludes or severely restricts the use of agents such as: synthetic petrochemical fertilizers and pesticides, growth regulators (hormones), antibiotic use in livestock, genetically modified organisms, human sewage and nanomaterials.
The benefits of organic food:
- Food quality and safety (an increased concentration of vitamins and minerals, calcium, magnesium, iron, omega-3 fatty acids and antioxidants)
- Foods free of pesticide and heavy metal residues
- Genetically modified organisms (GMOs) and their products are absolutely prohibited in organic production
- Food without artificial additives, preservatives, emulsifiers, artificial colors, flavors and flavor enhancers
- No residues of antibiotics, growth regulators and other veterinary medicines
- Organic products have a distinctive taste, aroma and color for a particular species, often referred to as the “forgotten taste of village food.”
